As with Seren Yates, Cassie doesn’t have finishing moves as such. That said, her favourite way to end a fight is her axe kick, which has left plenty of opponents out cold on the mats.

Weaknesses: Her temper, limited submission skills

Description: As a glance will tell you, Cassie’s your bombshell British blonde. Both in the sense that she’s shockingly hot and in the sense that she can beat down a grown man with her bare fists – spoiler alert, she’s done that before. Kind of likes it too, more on that later.

Basic Bio: In her own words, Cassandra Wright is a badass blonde bombshell who likes to kick ass. She also happens to be an adrenaline junkie and a thrill seeker, a young woman who’s never happier than showing off her skills in a good fight and being the centre of attention. Boredom, also in her own words, is her arch-nemesis. Sometimes, that leads her to bite off a bit more than she can chew.

But most of the time… Let’s just say that, if Cassie likes to start fights, she’s just as good at finishing them. And she does like to start fights. Her ‘job’, if you can call it that with a straight face, is wandering the world with her trust-fund boyfriend Tim and her (equally rich) best friend Alanza and going up against the best fighters she can find. Man, woman, Cassie’s not picky – she’ll take on anyone and as often as not she’ll win.

More often than not. And that begs the question – how does a bratty nineteen-year-old kickboxer beat some of the best fighters in the world?

Without cheating, before anyone asks. Cassie’s never cheated to win a fight in her life.

Well, much of the credit has to go to Cassie’s parents. Cassie’s dad is Steven Wright. Better known on the kickboxing circuit as Steve the “Bully Beater” Wright. Or just “Bloody” Steve Wright. He had a very serious reputation and, when after his retirement he married and his wife Janet found she was pregnant, he was determined his son would grow up to inherit that reputation.

He was absolutely sure he was going to have a son right up until the moment he walked into the delivery room and was presented with his newborn daughter.

At which point, Steve Wright said to himself “screw it” and decided his daughter would grow up to inherit his reputation instead.

Not that his daughter appreciated it at first, not when that meant a training regime (on top of school once she was old enough) that verged on the abusive. Was it? Well, perhaps. Perhaps not. It was definitely harsh, involving all sorts of athletics, strength training and – obviously – fight training.

It was thought that training twice a week was enough for a kid but Steve Wright’s daughter wasn’t just some kid. Oh no. She got to train five or six times a week, depending on what else was going on. Not to mention attending tournaments and sparring and… Well, lots more of all of the above, which Cassie…

Well, Cassie’s opinion changed over the years. At first, it was just how things were. Then, when she went to school, she hated not having the time for fun that most of her classmates took for granted. Then, when she went to secondary school, she decided she loved it again. Because, when she discovered her view that bullies were roughly akin to pond scum, being able to punch them in the face (or put her knee somewhat lower) was an excellent argument. Even if her teachers disagreed, she knew she was right.

Not to forget her mum either. Janet Wright was a housewife. She did not have a glamourous job or anything like that. But she did keep her daughter grounded, sane and in one piece, ensuring that her husband did keep his training from Hell relatively under control. At the end of the day, Janet was less interested in Cassie being a kickboxer and more interested in her being happy and safe.

Cassie, on the other hand, had discovered a taste for combat. Particularly when she started training in full contact matches in her teens. That she liked a lot more than the safer training she’d done as a younger child. She liked the thrill and the challenge a lot more than the practice, basically. That’s stayed with her.

And that’s about it, really. It would be fair to say that Cassie and her dad aren’t close any more, though that hasn’t stopped her following in his footsteps. She’s much closer to her mum, although Cassie’s globetrotting means she’s rarely home and, when she does, it’s to dump another load of trophies off.

Notes: A slightly more traditional striker here. Cassie’s more into the use of her fists and feet than tricky submissions, though she’s not against choking the odd opponent out with a good old sleeper hold. A slightly more limited story this time too, but I didn’t feel she needed an overelaborate backstory – hopefully what there is will whet your appetites! The art is done by commission by the very cool Black-pantheress.
